Amazon.com: FREE Shipping Threshold Increases to $49

For those that are non-Prime Amazon members, it appears that the minimum FREE shipping threshold has been raised from $35 to $49 (I remember it being $25 not too long ago!). You'll now see this message at checkout if you have less than $49 worth of items.
Orders including $25 or more of eligible books qualify for FREE Shipping. All orders of $49 or more of eligible items across any product category also qualify for FREE Shipping. With free shipping, your order will be delivered 5-8 business days after all of your items are available to ship, including pre-order items.
$49 is pretty standard for many sites, so this doesn't surprise me too much. We make room in our budget for the Prime fee, and it's totally worth it to us. It has saved me many trips to the store with kids in tow!
Note that Amazon Prime members will continue to receive free 2-day shipping with no minimum purchase.
